Santini Group, a business conglomerate that owns shares in the soccer club, said in a statement that the decision would allow Mills to showcase Indonesian products to fans of Tranmere Rovers and British soccer fans more generally.
nglish soccer club Tranmere Rovers’ decision to name Indonesian manufacturer Mills Sport a vendor for the club’s jersey could provide a boost to the nation’s small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Santini Group, a business conglomerate that owns shares in the soccer club, said in a statement that the decision would allow Mills to showcase Indonesian products to fans of Tranmere Rovers and British soccer fans more generally.
“We want to help Indonesian firms, especially SMEs, be able to penetrate the English market and eventually the global market,” Santini Group director Wandi Wanandi said in a statement.
Wandi added that by having the jerseys manufactured in Indonesia, they would be more affordable to buyers in both the UK and in Indonesia.
“We expect to be able to promote the club and Mills more in the English market but also to a global audience, including in Indonesia,” Wandi said.
Jerseys manufactured by Mills will be ready for the club’s 2021 to 2022 season.
Mills is also the jersey supplier for Indonesia’s national soccer team.
The Rovers will play in England's fourth-tiered League One competition in the upcoming season.
Earlier last year, the club gave top contractor John Mallison the job of renovating the surface of its home grounds, Prenton Park.
“This project is the fruit of hard work by our management and will be primarily financed by our Indonesian partner, the Santini group,” club chairman Mark Palios said.
Mallison has built a number of facilities for English soccer clubs, including the surfaces at Wembley, Old Trafford and Anfield.
