ith the Bali Arts Festival 2017 set run from June 10 to July 8, Bali Tourism Agency head AA Yuniartha Putra has given some pointers on what visitors need to prepare for the festival.
Pay close attention to the event schedule
Yuniartha advises that visitors seeking to join the festivity ask for a guide book from the committee.
“Dates, time and locations are stated in the event schedule. The Art Centre is pretty big and having a guidebook will make it easier to locate the stage,” he said.

Come early
Yuniartha suggests visitors arrive at least 15 minutes before the show starts. An art performance is usually 1.5 to two hours long.
Pick the most suitable accommodation
Accommodation is another important thing to consider. It is advisable for visitors to choose a hotel located on Jl. Hayam Wuruk, which is close to Jl. Nusa Indah where the event will take place.
“There are no five-star hotels available on Jl. Hayam Wuruk, but the one-star hotels there are quite popular among tourists due to their affordable price. They are also clean, cozy and located in the downtown area. Or visitors may choose to stay in Sanur, which has plenty of luxury hotels and villas,” he says.

Choose the best transportation
For transportation, public minivans in Bali don’t go straight to the festival’s venue, however minivans that service the Kreneng Market – Sanur route drive through Jl. Hayam Wuruk and pass the end of Jl. Nusa Indah, which is 100 meters away from the venue.
“There’s also motorcycle taxis, hotel cars or car rental. If you want a more affordable mode of transportation, you can rent a motorcycle for Rp 50,000 [US$3.8],” said Yuniartha.
Bring your hat and umbrella
Don’t forget to bring a hat and umbrella, considering the Art Centre area is rather big and the stages are located quite far from one another. (kes)
