“We are consistent when it comes to supporting events that can attract overseas tourists, but both the committee and provincial administration need to focus on preparing the event,” Eddy said.

“The event serves up the theme of singing for peace. Lake Toba [tourist destination in North Sumatra] is the witness of the peaceful co-existence of various ethnicities, religions and countries, we’re all Pancasila after all,” added NISCC 2017 mentor J Alexander Ferdinandes.

The choir competition is divided into several categories namely mixed youth choir, mixed choir, mix chamber choir, equal voice, musica sacra, gospel and spiritual, folklore, popular music and religious music. Meanwhile, invitation-only choir groups join another category called Toba Grand Prix.
