The ninth Mountain Jazz event was recently held on August 19 at Jiwa Jawa Resort Amphitheater, Bromo.
The event managed to attract around 2,000 jazz enthusiasts to come and famed local musicians like Glenn Fredly and Indra Lesmana.
Before that, there was a duet performance by Dira Suganda and Sri Hanuraga Trio who performed traditional and national songs such as “Tanah Airku.”

“We started Mountain Jazz on a hotel yard with 200 visitors. Today, the audience has reached 2,000 people which is why we’re adding more activities for next year’s event,” said event founder Sigit Pramono.
Sigit said that next year, the event will be held for three days.
“Thank you to all visitors who have supported this event,” Sigit added.
This year’s Mountain Jazz was supported by the tourism ministry. Tourism minister Arief Yahya appreciated this event as he believed the event was effective to attract tourists.
“The direct and indirect impacts are huge. Hotels are fully booked, restaurants are filled with visitors and street vendors also earn more income. Also, let’s not forget the media coverage for Bromo that has been listed in the ministry’s 10 Priority Destinations,” said Arief. (asw)
