Abdul said that South Halmahera is the biggest fish producer in North Maluku. This puts the province in the 9th spot out of 34 provinces in Indonesia that have the biggest marine resources. The fish production in North Maluku can reach up to one ton.
Abdul also said that apart from fishing, North Maluku is also home to tourist objects such as Ternate Sultanate Castle, Mount Gamalama, which is the biggest volcano in Maluku, and Tolukko Castle where visitors can catch the sunset view.
The latter is a historic castle on the top of Batuan Beku hill built by the Portuguese. The construction of this castle consists of a mix of river pebbles, coral reef and broken pieces of brick stones glued together using chalk and sand. Initially named Saint Lucas Castle, this place has three watch towers, one underground room, indoor yard, secret passages and a square main room. (kes)
