“It brings pride to the industry [players] and can encourage competition for quality. The event also brings new hope for Jakarta tourism,” he said, as quoted by kompas.com.

Thamrin Bachri, head of the jury of the 2019 Adikarya Wisata awards, said the rating system was based on cleanliness, environmental awareness and cultural conservation.

“A clean and environmentally friendly hotel that supports cultural conservation and is adaptable in providing services for its customers can [ensure] tourists’ satisfaction upon visiting Jakarta,” he said.

Adikarya Wisata was previously titled Kelapa Jaya. With its inaugural edition in 1974, it aims to honor companies contributing to Jakarta’s tourist industry. (wng)
