Malaysian Prime Minister arrives in Jakarta for three-day visit

The country's state news agency Bernama reported that Ismail Sabri arrived at the Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport in a government jet at about 10.10 am, accompanied by Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.

alaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob arrived in Jakarta on Tuesday for a three-day official visit to Indonesia, at the invitation of Indonesian President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo.

The country's state news agency Bernama reported that Ismail Sabri arrived at the Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport in a government jet at about 10.10 am, accompanied by Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.

They were greeted by Indonesia's Education, Culture, Research and Technology Minister Nadiem Makarim and Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah who had arrived earlier.

Also present were Charge d’affaires of the Malaysian Embassy in Indonesia Adlan Mohd Shaffieq and Foreign Ministry's Director for Protocol Irvan Bukhari.

Ismail Sabri and the Malaysian delegation will stay at The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, at Mega Kuningan in Jakarta's central business district.

This will be Ismail Sabri's first visit to the neighboring country after being sworn in as the country's ninth Prime Minister on Aug 21, 2021.

Ismail Sabri's schedule in Jakarta includes meetings with President Jokowi and the Indonesian business community, Chief Editors of Indonesian media and the Malaysian diaspora in the country.

The Prime Minister is also expected to witness the signing of Memoranda of Understanding and Agreement between the two countries and pay a visit to a defense industry facility in Bandung.
