resident Joko “Jokowi” Widodo plans to award Satyalancana Karya Bhakti Praja Nugraha medals to dozens of regional leaders considered to have excellent achievements, including his eldest son Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who is the mayor of Surakarta in Central Java.
The Satyalancana Karya Bhakti Praja Nugraha is a civilian honor granted by the president to regional leaders who have rendered distinguished service or shown exceptionally outstanding performance in their leadership.
Jokowi reportedly will grant the medals to a total of 15 regional leaders on the 28th regional autonomy day on Thursday in Surabaya, East Java.
Aside from Gibran, Jokowi's son-in-law Bobby Nasution who is the mayor of Medan in North Sumatra will also receive the decoration. East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa and Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi are also listed among the awardees.
Eri said the President had made the selection after reviewing the 2022 Regional Administration Management Evaluation (EPPD).
"This award will be given to regional leaders who showed [extraordinary] achievements in [leading] their respective regions. I will be the first Surabaya mayor to receive the Satyalancana Karya Bhakti Praja Nugraha medal," Eri said on Tuesday as reported by Tempo.co.
