or those who love to watch motorsports, be sure to catch the upcoming Suncity Group 64th Macau Grand Prix in Macao, China, to be organized from Nov. 16 to 19. The race will be the only international motorsporting event in the world to host two official FIA World Cups and a round of an FIA World Championship.

The race will be held at the famous and prestigious Guia circuit, located in the Macao peninsula’s southeastern region. The circuit consists of long straights and tight corners, featuring the characteristics of a typical street circuit: narrow, bumpy and limited overtaking opportunities.

Furthermore, the track also boasts two special features rarely found in other street circuits: variation in altitude (over 30 meters between the highest and lowest points of the circuit) and an ultra-long main straight that allows top speeds of up to 260 kilometers per hour (on F3 cars).

No wonder the circuit has been placed among the world’s most challenging tracks in terms of both driving and tuning, as vehicles have to maintain competitive speeds to deal with hill climbing, twisty corners and long straights in a single lap. Here, road racers really have to put all their skills to the test.

To mark its 35th run for Formula 3 cars, the Suncity Group Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix was designated the official FIA F3 World Cup for the second-consecutive year. The 10th running of the Macau GT Cup will be the FIA GT World Cup for the third-consecutive year and is once again sponsored by SJM, while the Suncity Group Macau Guia Race will count as a round of the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC).

One of the highlights of the six-race program will be the 51st edition of the Suncity Group Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix, blazing a trail into its sixth decade with a truly remarkable lineup of electrifying road racers. In addition to the four main races, local and regional talents will also have a chance to showcase their racing abilities and skills through two high profile races: the CTM Macau Touring Car Cup and the Suncity Group Chinese Racing Cup.

To attract more people to join the Grand Prix, a series of events will be organized, including a promotional show at Tap Seac Square, where cars and motorcycles used to compete in the Macau GT Cup and Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix will be put on display. Entry is free, giving residents and visitors alike the chance to get a closer look at some of the racing vehicles that will be used to compete on the Guia circuit. The opening ceremony for the exhibition will be conducted on Nov. 11 at 3 p.m.

On the sidelines …

In between watching the races at the Macau Grand Prix, you can always take your time to visit some of the most beautiful attractions in Macao. A tour across the region’s World Heritage Sites is especially recommended.

.

The Senado Square, meanwhile, is a grand town square which has been Macao’s urban center for centuries, and has since become the region’s most popular venue for public events and celebrations. There, you can bear witness to the multicultural dimension of Macao’s community. The town square is surrounded by pastel-colored neoclassical buildings, creating a consistent and harmonious Mediterranean atmosphere.

The A-Ma temple is one of them. This beautiful ancient temple already existed before the city of Macao came into being. The temple consists of various pavilions dedicated to the worship of different deities in a single complex, embodying an interesting representation of Chinese culture inspired by Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism and multiple folk beliefs.

Then there is a cathedral built around 1622 at No. 1 Cathedral Street, characterized by pilasters and twin belfries that stand out on the streetscape. The exterior is clad in Shanghai plaster, giving the church a monolithic, subdued appearance.

.

If you love to explore different types of flavors, then you should also take time to join the Macau Food Festival that will run from Nov. 10 through 26 in Sai Van Lake Square. The festival will bring worldwide cuisines including Asian, European, Mainland Chinese as well as local Macao delicacies to you. Game booths, live performances and beer competitions will also be held at the festival.

In early November of this year, UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova designated Macao as a new member of the organization’s creative cities network in the field of gastronomy. This brings an array of new opportunities to promote Macao’s unique gastronomic culture and develop a sustainable tourism industry, setting its sights on transforming itself into a world center of tourism and leisure.
