View all search resultss Indonesia marks its 80th Independence Day, Gojek reiterated its focus on strengthening the country’s digital ecosystem by nurturing local technology talent.
Locally trained engineers remained at the heart of its product development, said the homegrown on-demand transportation and delivery services company, aligning with the government’s push to cultivate skilled professionals in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
Gojek president Hans Patuwo said the company continued to create digital solutions designed to address everyday challenges while supporting its driver and merchant partners.
“With the spirit of #PastiAdaJalan [There’s always a way], we want to transform daily obstacles into opportunities that can generate wider economic growth for our entire ecosystem,” Hans said.
Gojek’s innovations are aligned with the three main pillars that reflect this year’s Independence Day theme of unity, sovereignty and advancing national welfare.
Driving local innovation
The company’s in-house engineers have created a series of new services aimed at easing daily frictions for customers. Among these are the premium ride option GoCar Prestige, curated healthy menus on GoFood, faster delivery features such as GoFood Flash and GoMart 15-Minute Delivery, as well as GoRide Instant, GoSend 1-Hour Delivery and the environmentally friendly GoGreen SM.
Attractive promotions to expand reach complemented the rollout of each service, the company said, which demonstrated how local talent continued to play a vital role in bringing in technological solutions to real life challenges.
Partners for prosperity
Beyond its customers, Gojek has also strived to broaden support for its driver and merchant partners. Through its long-running Swadaya program, the company provides assistance in areas such as financing, social protection, daily staples, telecommunications and vehicle maintenance.
For small businesses, particularly in the food and beverage (F&B) sector, the company recently launched the GoFood Merchant app, which reduces onboarding time for new merchants to just five minutes. In parallel, its education initiative Pojok Belajar (Learning corner) has expanded from eight to 24 cities, offering wider access to training for F&B micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Gojek said these measures were intended to give partners better tools and knowledge to sustain and grow their income in the digital economy.
Advancing Indonesia
A 2025 study by the Prasasti Center for Policy Studies estimated that GoTo Group, Gojek’s holding company, generated Rp 480.7 trillion (US$29 billion) in economic value last year. According to the study, the group supported more than 2.03 million jobs and helped reduce the national poverty rate by 0.45 percentage points.
“We believe that in every #WaktunyaBerjuang [Time to strive] moment of the Indonesian people, there is always a way to keep moving toward an advanced Indonesia, through innovation that empowers local tech talent and tangible support that creates broad impact for millions of driver partners and merchant partners,” Hans said.
