ight police officers have been arrested at the Medan Police headquarters following an attack against a number of health workers and security officers at Bandung Hospital in Medan on Sunday.
North Sumatra Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Hadi Wahyudi said that the eight officers, all Second Brig. are still being questioned.
“The process is handled by the Internal Affairs,” Hadi told The Jakarta Post Wednesday.
Based on preliminary findings, Hadi said the attack started in an altercation between drunken Second Brig. Tito with Brema, who works as a security officer at the hospital, at a hotel in Medan.
Following the incident, Tito called his fellow officers to come to Bandung Hospital at around 5 a.m. on Sunday.
“At the hospital, the officers attacked Brema and one of the nurses. Both victims were injured,” the police spokesperson said.
After the attack, the officers left the hospital, but returned for another attack. Several local residents tried to block them.
A number of doctors, nurses and hotel security officers were injured in the second attack, Hadi said. (dre)
