Norwegian pop singer Anna of the North has released her new single and music video, “Thank Me Later”.

Following single “Leaning on Myself” released in February, “Thank Me Later” is a fresh take on the common gender dynamics between a man and a woman.

In a press statement, Anna described herself as “a front woman” in place of the more common front man.

She went on to express her opinion of the new single, “I’m super excited about this song. It’s the first song I wrote toward this next record. There are so many songs where girls get objectified and controlled by the powerful and rich front man, made out to be all sexy and cute. I’m a front woman and this is a chance for me to get my own back. As well as to remind the guys that it’s not all about the money and that they can be sexy and cute too."

The accompanying music video echoes her words, set in a “sugar-coated dystopian diner where love isn’t quite what it seems”.

After the success of her debut album, Lovers, in 2017 and her collaborations with artists like Tyler, the Creator and HONNE, Anna is looking to expand her horizons.

“Thank Me Later” will be included in her upcoming second album, which is in the final stages of being wrapped up. (ayr/wng)
