The COVID-19 pandemic has created anxiety because of its health and economic consequences. Even people who have the privilege of working from home and staying at home have anxieties because they still have to fulfill their day-to-day needs through delivery services.

How can they make sure that the delivery services comply with health safety standards relevant to the coronavirus outbreak?

To protect the health and safety of its customers as well as its driver partners amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Gojek has launched a feature that displays the body temperatures and vehicle hygiene statuses of its driver partners in real time on the Gojek application.

Announced on May 15, the feature is now available for use by Gojek users. Gojek is Indonesia’s first on-demand transportation service to introduce this service to increase safety and ensure reliability for users.

Gojek chief operations officer Hans Patuwo said Gojek recognized the importance of public trust in its business and that the company had always worked hard to maintain that trust by coming up with innovations and initiatives to cater to the public’s needs – both before and during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our operational and engineering teams are working hard to come up with innovations that the public and driver partners need. The latest innovation allows users to find out the real-time body temperatures and vehicle hygiene of driver partners. Gojek has launched the new function to demonstrate its seriousness in ensuring a more meticulous standard operational procedure for service safety amid the COVID-19 pandemic, so the public can feel safer and calmer while using Gojek’s services,” Hans said.

Gojek will soon make the feature available for its food delivery and logistics services.

The health and hygiene status of Gojek’s driver partners and their vehicles is recorded in Gojek Safety Centers (locally known as Posko Aman Bersama Gojek). Spread across 16 large cities in Indonesia, the safety centers are places where driver partners can have their body temperatures checked and their vehicles sprayed with disinfectant.

Gojek will upload the health information on the application automatically after recording it, thus making the data readily available and visible to users.

Gojek has created the feature to ensure the health and safety of its drivers in a more transparent manner, so that they can serve their customers safely. Gojek encourages every driver partner to routinely visit the safety command center. If any driver partner’s body temperature goes beyond the normal (37.5oC), Gojek will accompany its partners to conduct further medical checks in cooperation with Halodoc.

Previously, Gojek prepared millions of face masks and bottles of hand sanitizer for drivers within portable health-care kits. The packaged have been distributed to hundreds of thousands of driver partners in more than 90 cities. Gojek will continue to distribute the health-care packages, which contain a total of five million face masks, to fulfill driver partners’ needs.

Gojek is also striving to ensure the health and safety of its users who, during the large-scale social restriction policies, still need to conduct some activities outside the house. Gojek has done this by distributing face masks to passengers, as well as limiting GoCar passenger numbers to two people per vehicle for its GoCar and GoBluebird services.

Gojek has also launched contactless delivery options for its GoFood, GoShop, GoSend and GoMart services.

“Through innovation and technology, we strive to help the public fulfill their needs during the pandemic without any anxiety. Amid such challenging circumstances, Gojek has been motivated to reiterate the positive social impacts it can bring to the wider public,” Hans said.

Gojek is striving to come up with more innovations to help people have their needs met during the pandemic without too much anxiety.
