AKARTA: The Indonesian Military (TNI) plans to boost its force to secure the disputed oil-rich Ambalat territory, amid renewed tensions between Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur.
"We will increase our number of guards," TNI chief Gen. Djoko Santoso said to kompas.com on Sunday.
Djoko said the TNI would continue to guard the border areas, but would leave the dispute to the government to solve.
Ambalat is a maritime area located off the coast of east Kalimantan, which both Indonesia and Malaysia claim as their territory.
