ENPASAR: Dozens of students at SMP PGRI junior high school in Denpasar, Bali, apparently went into a trance-induced mass-hysteria on Monday, creating havoc at the school.

Around 30 boys and girls began shouting and crying during school hours on Monday. Teachers believed the condition was caused by intangible powers.

The Balinese people have strong belief in harmony.

If there is a disharmonious relationship between humans and inhumans, bad signs begin to appear including the trance condition.

According to Hindu low priest Mangku Buda, the school administration had violated the rule of "the intangible world" by closing an old well in the corner of the school, which was believed to have been a place of creatures that had been residing there for a long time.
