JAKARTA: State power utility PT PLN will sign next month another Rp 1
AKARTA: State power utility PT PLN will sign next month another Rp 1.5 trillion (US$160 million) loan from Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) for the construction of four power plants under the first 10,000 megawatt (MW) power crash program.
The four coal-fired power plants are a 2x10 MW Power Plant Riau, the 2x7 MW Riau Selat Panjang Power Plant, the 2x7 MW Tanjung Balai Karimun Power Plant, and the 2x50 West Kalimantan Power Plant, PLN's director Fahmi Mochtar said on Wednesday.
"The total value of the loan is Rp 635.93 billion and $87.19 million or Rp 1.5 trillion in total. It has a maturity period of ten years. We expect to sign the loan agreement in December," Fahmi said.
The program initially required total funding of Rp 19.2 trillion and $4.8 billion.
However, the required funding will be increased as PLN has included two more power plants; the 2x200-MW plants in Riau and the same again in East Kalimantan.
He added that each of these larger power plants would require Rp 2 trillion. - JP/Alfian
