AKARTA: PT Bakrie Telecom, the provider of Esia cellular telephone services, launched on Tuesday a new mobile phone called “Hape Esia Qwerty Games” in cooperation with Electronic Arts Inc. (EA) of the United States, one of the largest game developers in the world.
“Indonesian youngsters really like to play games and you can find 30 EA quality games in this new mobile phone. This is a new breakthrough to attract young customers,” deputy president director Erik Meijer said.
In 2008, Esia announced its target to attract around 14 million subscribers by 2011. This marketing breakthrough is expected to help achieve the 2011 target. “Until the third quarter of 2010, we already had around 12.1 million subscribers,” said Bakrie Telecom’s commercial strategy division head Ridzki Kramadibrata. — JP
