AKARTA: The Indonesian Petroleum Association (IPA) will hold its 35th IPA Convention and Exhibition at the Jakarta Convention Center on May 18-20, 2011.
“The upcoming 35th IPA Convention and Exhibition is aimed at collaborating with the government to formulate the best solutions needed to resolve these challenges,” IPA President Ron Aston said.
The annual event, carrying the theme “Indonesia Energy: Growth, Security and Sustainability”, is quite relevant to Indonesia today, he said.
A major producer of hydrocarbons for many years, Indonesia still has significant untapped potential reserves of oil and gas. According to 2010 data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Indonesia has combined proven and potential crude oil reserves of 7.8 billion barrels. Proven and potential gas reserves stood at a combined 157.1 trillion cubic feet.
The country’s emerging economy has generated escalating domestic demands on energy, while at the same time Indonesia needs to continue leveraging oil and gas exports as a source of export revenue. — JP
