ADUNG: The police say they have captured five of the six men who escaped from the Kuta Police station’s holding cells on Wednesday.
Details on the jailbreak have been sketchy as the police remain tight-lipped about the incident.
Kuta Police chief Adj. Comr. Gde Ganefo replied briefly when contacted on Thursday.
“We have pursued the suspects and we succeeded in capturing five of them at Gilimanuk,” he said, referring to the ferry harbor at the island’s western tip.
The suspects were about to cross to Java Island when officers arrested them.
A police source who declined to be named said the suspects broke out of a detention facility on the third floor of the police station. It was the third break out at the station this year.
“The padlocks on the detention facility are broken, that’s why it is easy for them to escape,” the source said.
