Deputy National Police chief Comr
eputy National Police chief Comr. Gen. Oegroseno said that female police officers who insisted on wearing the Islamic headscarf, or hijab, could move to Aceh, where it was required attire.
Oegroseno said any policewomen who could not wait to wear the headscarf until police headquarters issued the requisite guidelines could alternately assume duties that did not require them to wear a uniform.
'It wouldn't be hard for them to move to Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam. It would be good for them,' Oegroseno said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
The National Police have delayed their decision to allow female officers to wear Islamic headscarfs while on duty.
According to a confidential internal telegram signed by Oegroseno on Nov. 28, policewomen have been ordered to stop wearing the headscarf to work until the National Police have issued a regulation on their new uniform.
