Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Tito Karnavian has said that as many as 13,000 security personnel '€“ 10,000 from the Jakarta Police and 3,000 from the military will be deployed to secure the final match of the President'€™s Cup between Bersib Bandung and Sriwijaya FC at Bung Karno Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Previously, the Jakarta Police issued a high alert for possible riots between Persib Bandung supporters and Persija Jakarta supporters.

Tito has also advised Jakarta residents to stay away from the Bung Karno Sports Stadium starting at 12 a.m. on Sunday because some 80,000 Persib Bandung supporters are expected to flood the area near the stadium.

'€œThe number of soccer supporters will be large. Jakarta residents are expected to stay away from the stadium. There are many alternative places to visit,'€ Tito was quoted by kompas.com as saying on Friday.

Tito also told the supporters of Persib Bandung not to wear any attributes of their soccer club while on their way to the stadium so that they would not provoke Persija Jakarta supporters to carry out any violence. '€œPlease, wear them when you are already in the stadium,'€ he advised.

Another effort to secure the soccer match is by inviting the leaders from both Jakarta and Bandung to meet. Their friendly meeting is expected to calm down soccer supporters during the match, which will be attended by President Joko '€œJokowi'€ Wiododo.

Tito, Jakarta Governor Basuki '€œAhok'€ Tjahaja Purnama and Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil met on Friday to discuss security during the soccer match. (bbn). (++++)
