View all search resultswo people were killed when a fuel truck exploded while undergoing repairs in the Terboyo industrial area, Semarang, Central Java, on Wednesday.
The two victims, identified as Rofik, 36, and Priyadi Setiawan, 34, were reportedly repairing the truck when it exploded, said Genuk Police head Corm. Hendrawan Hasan, adding that Rofik died on the scene, while Priyadi died at a hospital.
“Several witnesses said the two were working on the fuel tank when it exploded,” said Hendrawan on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Semarang Police crime unit head Adj. Sr. Corm. Wiyono Eko said the explosion was sparked by a lit cigarette.
“We suspect someone was smoking when the incident occurred. There is cigarette ash there,” he added.
He, however, said the cause of the explosion had not been confirmed as the incident was still under investigation. (bbn)
