eing thousands miles away from home did not stop President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo from showing his support for the Indonesian national soccer team, who played on Wednesday evening against Thailand in the first leg of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup final.
The President, who was in Tehran on Wednesday for a state visit, managed to spare some time from his schedule to watch the game, in which Indonesia secured a 2-1 victory, via live streaming.

The President said he had momentarily thought to stop watching the game after Indonesia went behind by a goal in the first half of the game held at Pakansari Stadium in Bogor, West Java.
“I was about to leave, but suddenly we scored [and it was] 1-1. I continued to watch the game and [we scored] another goal, 2-1. Alhamdulillah [thank God],” he said in a press release sent by Presidential Press Bureau chief Bey Machmudin.
