Indonesia qualifies for the 2024 U-23 Asia Cup quarterfinals after defeating Jordan 4-1 on Sunday in Doha, sets Olympics in its sights
he Indonesian soccer team made history on Sunday by reaching the quarterfinals of the 2024 Under-23 (U-23) Asia Cup after crushing Jordan 4-1.
The victory marks the first time the Young Garudas have secured a spot in the last eight of the tournament.
Playing at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium in Doha, Indonesia managed to dominate the Group A match.
The team only needed a draw to qualify for the next round, but it managed to score four goals and earned three full points from winning the match.
The match saw Marselino Ferdinan open the scoring in the 23rd minute from a penalty kick, followed by Witan Sulaeman's goal in the 40th minute.
Marselino struck again in the 70th minute before Jordan reduced the deficit through Indonesian defender Justin Hubner’s own goal at the 79th point.
Komang Teguh further extended Indonesia’s lead by another goal in the game's last four minutes.
