ylviana Murni, the running mate of gubernatorial candidate Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, has refuted the results of a recent survey that says their ticket is the least favored by voters ahead of the Jakarta election on Feb. 15.

A Jakarta-based Poltracking Indonesia survey released on Wednesday put the Agus-Sylviana pair in last place with a favorable rating of only 25.75 percent.

“I think the result [of the Poltracking survey] didn't reflect the real situation because I’ve received positive responses from citizens during my campaigns,” Sylviana told reporters after visiting residents in Rawa Bunga in East Jakarta on Thursday.

The poll found the share of Jakarta voters expressing a favorable view of candidate pair Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga Uno was 31.5 percent, while incumbent candidate pair Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama and Djarot Saiful Hidayat were favored by 30.13 percent of respondents.

“If a poll puts us in the top spot, we will be happy, but if we are placed in the last position, we will be more determined to attract voters," said Sylviana, who was a senior Jakarta bureaucrat.

Agus and Sylviana are backed by a coalition of the Democratic Party, the National Awakening Party (PKB), the National Mandate Party (PAN) and the United Development Party (PPP). (ebf)
