Indonesia Decides

Vice presidential candidate Gibran Rakabuming Raka has visited Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's (SBY) residence in Cikeas, Bogor regency, West Java, to meet with the former president and his son, Democratic Party chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY).

Gibran was accompanied by Prabowo-Gibran national campaign team deputy secretary Aminuddin Ma'ruf during the visit on Monday.

Aminuddin said the vice presidential candidate wanted to discuss the upcoming general election and ask for advice from SBY and AHY before polling day.

According to Aminuddin, as a former president, SBY’s point of view was particularly vital to determine the strategic matters that Gibran and the campaign would implement before the election.

"We want to ask for insights and advice from SBY and AHY, and, of course, also from the Democratic Party family regarding the winning strategy in the remaining campaign period throughout the next week," he said, as quoted by cnnindonesia.com news portal.

After the visit, AHY revealed what his meeting with Gibran and SBY had entailed.

"Earlier, we had a discussion and talked about [the condition of] Indonesia today and in the future, facing various complex global challenges,” AHY said as quoted by detik.com news portal.
