The regency of Bekasi, West Java, has welcomed new leaders of the Bekasi administration for the 2017 to 2022 period.
West Java Governor Ahmad "Aher" Heryawan inaugurated the new Bekasi regent, Neneng Hasanah Yasin, and her deputy, Eka Supria Atmaja, on Monday in West Java's capital, Bandung.
"This occasion is the first of three inauguration ceremonies for the new leaders of West Java cities elected in the 2017 concurrent elections [last February]," Aher said as quoted by tempo.co.
Aher said he told Neneng and Eka to prioritize the development of human resources in the densely populated regency of 3.6 million inhabitants. "Bekasi needs quality youngsters that have a chance to participate in the industrial and economic growth," he said.
Meanwhile, Neneng told reporters that she had plans to develop Bekasi's youth, such as through job fairs, cooperation between schools and and internship programs with companies.
"Therefore, even before they graduate, they will already have proper competencies relevant to the companies," she said. (dea)
