he North Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency recorded at least 45 fire incidents that took place in the municipality between January and April this year.
The agency's head, Satriadi Gunawan, said that most incidents occurred in April with 17 fires recorded, while March saw 13 incidents, followed by January and February with 10 and five fires recorded, respectively.
“At least 70 percent of them were caused by electric short circuits, 20 percent were caused by gas leaks and other various reasons make up the remaining 10 percent,” he said as quoted by kompas.com.
At least Rp 12.8 billion (US$961,322) in total losses was recorded in the 45 incidents, while a combined 9,728 square meters was affected, he said.
“Six people were injured in the incidents—four of them were civilians while the other two were our officers. There were no deaths,” he added. (idb/dmr)
