eavy rain caused a landslide in Cipayung, Depok, West Java, on Tuesday afternoon, damaging two houses after burying their front porches.
No casualties were reported.
Yanto and his family, who inhabit one of the affected homes, saved themselves by fleeing when they heard a rumbling before the landslide reached their property, kompas.com reported on Wednesday.
"The owner of the other home [Hartono] and his family were coincidentally away from home as they were visiting their relatives,” said local resident Yayang Suryana.
On Wednesday, local residents teamed up with officials from the Depok administration to dig out the front porches.
The landslide also cut off the residents’ access road in front of the houses. (agn)
