Actress Julie Estelle enjoyed her starring role as an archaeologist in upcoming horror film Gerbang Neraka (Hell’s Gate).
She said the film, which also stars Reza Rahadian and Dwi Sasono, was not an ordinary horror movie as it revolved around historical accounts surrounding the Gunung Padang megalithic site in Cianjur regency, West Java.
The National Team for the Preservation and Management of the Gunung Padang Site previously disclosed that the excavation had revealed an underground room built by humans in the prehistoric era. The traces of a civilization at the site believed to date as far back as 5200 BC, older than the civilization responsible for building the Egyptian pyramids.
“I found the film interesting even though it is fiction,” Julie said as quoted by kapanlagi.com on Saturday.
She praised her costars in the film, which was directed by Rizal Mantovani and filmed in 45 days
“It’s not the first time I starred in a movie with Reza and Dwi but it’s fun. In the film, each role represents a sign — gold, glory and gospel.”
