he Jakarta administration has allocated Rp 2.43 billion (US$182,736) from this year’s regional budget to renovate the governor’s official residence in Menteng, Central Jakarta, including the installation of an elevator.
Head of Cipta Karya, the city’s public buildings, planning and land directorate general, Pandita, said the two-story official residence was an old building that needed to be renovated.
He said the renovation was scheduled for last year but the plan had not been implemented as the agency still needed to further study which parts of the house needed renovation.
Pandita said the renovation budget was still a draft.
“It’s probable we will not use all [of the funds],” he said as quoted by tempo.co.
He also said the building, which was located in the oldest residential suburb of Jakarta, needed to be equipped with an elevator to assist elderly visitors.
“The elderly aren’t be able to walk up the stairs,” he said.
According to information obtained through the National Procurement Agency (LKPP) website, the elevator will cost Rp 750.2 million and will be purchased under a direct procurement scheme. (gis)
