akarta Public Housing and Public Buildings Agency head Agustino Darmawan said the zero down-payment housing program, which is carried out under the housing financing liquidity facility scheme, would not provide landed houses.

“Zero down-payment housing in the city must be vertical housing; it can’t be accommodated by the scheme if it’s landed housing,” he said, as quoted by kompas.com on Wednesday.

Even if there were landed houses being sold through the scheme, Agustino added, the price would not be more than Rp 140 million (around US$10,000). The price of a house at the project in Rorotan, North Jakarta, would likely be more than that hence it was not using the scheme nor was it part of the city’s housing program, he said.

“No matter how competitive the price of land is, no developer will build and sell a house that is priced under Rp 140 million in Jakarta.”

Previously, the media reported that the city administration had allocated Rp 800 billion to fund one of Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan’s key campaign promises.  (vla)
