A

total of 2,482 people have signed up for the zero down payment housing program (Samawa), according to Jakarta Housing Agency acting head Meli Budiastuti.

“We are currently verifying their data with the Population and Civil Registry Agency as well as the tax agencies. We are trying see whether the files they have submitted make them eligible,” Meli said on Wednesday, kompas.com reported.

The agencies would then pick just 780 applicants to fill the existing units in the Samawa program based on which applicants needed housing the most, she added.

The verification process will be completed in January 2019.

“We will show [the verification process] on our website, so applicants can see who can get in. After that, a gubernatorial regulation will be issued for the final checking,” Meli said.

Currently, housing available in the Samawa program is at the Klapa Village apartment complex in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta. The construction of the 1.5 hectare apartment complex is planned to be finished in July 2019.

Three types of units are offered: studio type 21, one bedroom type 24 and two bedroom type 36, with prices ranging from Rp 184 million (US$12,833) to Rp 310 million. (ami)
