hree teenagers reportedly attacked 19-year-old Randi Saptianto in Ciputat, South Tangerang, Banten, on Saturday night for glaring at them.
South Tangerang Police officers arrested the teenagers, who also allegedly damaged the victim’s motorcycle.
“The victim met with two of the suspects. They glared at each other and started to verbally taunt each other,” South Tangerang Police criminal investigation director Adj. Comr. Alexander Yurikho said on Tuesday, as reported by kompas.com.
He said the victim was attacked while waiting for his girlfriend at a fast-food restaurant. After taunting each other, one of the suspects, VR, 18, left while his friend, AR, 16, stayed with the victim.
VR then reportedly returned with the third suspect, IS, 19, and the three suspects attacked the victim, wounding him.
“One of the suspects brought a clurit [small sickle] and stabbed the victim and punched him. The victim sustained wounds on the back of his head and on his left hip,” he said.
He said the police were still reconstructing the incident.
The suspects have been charged under Article 170 of the Criminal Code on mob violence, which could see them sent to prison for up to five years. (ami)
