Fallen crane injures three in Central Jakarta

crane that was being used to arrange sheet piling along the riverbank of the Sentiong River in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, has fallen into the river, while part of it fell onto houses on Thursday afternoon.

“Yes, it fell onto the residents' [houses],” Herry Purnama, the district head of Kemayoran said as quoted by kompas.com. The crane fell onto houses on Jl. Gelindra in Kebon Kosong.

Usin, 56, Enah, 53 and Lis, 35 who were inside one of the houses when the incident happened, were injured.

“They were taken to the community health center,” Herry said.

Citizen journalism Instagram account @jakarta_terkini reported that the crane fell around 12 p.m. The cause of the incident is still unknown. (gis)
