#10yearchallenge 2009 vs 2019

The 2009 picture shows Anies embracing Ismail as a toddler, both smiling broadly. Anies is sporting what looks like a black, short-sleeved T-shirt – a distinct contrast to the long-sleeved batik shirt he has been seen wearing as governor – and a black watch on his left wrist.

His upload has garnered more than 75,000 likes and 1,000 comments in the two hours since he posted the photographs.

Instagram user @ineukaniahamsana praised Anies for wearing the same watch a decade later: "It seems like Anies is not the consumerist type, as proven by the same watch you have been wearing from 10 years ago, even if you can collect any watches you want to today. You have set an example for others."

Meanwhile, @fauzyfatturahman recalled Anies' career as the then-rector of Paramadina University, commenting, "In 2009, you were still a presidential election [debate] panelist, right?"

Anies was a moderator of the 2009 presidential debates between incumbent president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, incumbent vice president Jusuf Kalla and Megawati Soekarnoputri.

Another user, @dyksatrio, commented: "Assalamualaikum ['Peace be unto you'] to the leader of our ummah [community]." (ars)
