Entering her 24th consecutive year on the tour, Matthew has put her name at the top of women’s golf. The Scot has won major tournaments including the RICOH Women’s British Open.
The World Championship, which takes place from Feb. 28 to March 3, will be the 10th time she has participated in the event. Her best result at the championship was back in 2011, when she finished eighth in the final standings.
“I’m excited to return to Singapore to compete in this year’s HSBC Women’s World Championship and I am very grateful to HSBC for this invite,” she said in a statement.
“It is such a great event in one of my favorite cities with a world class field gathered so I am looking forward to what will be a fantastic week. I have been working hard on my game and am feeling refreshed after the Christmas break so can’t wait to return to Sentosa,” she added.
On the other side of the field, 19-year-old He of China said receiving the invitation to play at the World Championship was like a dream come true, as she had the opportunity to compete against the best players in the world. He was excited to compete alongside her childhood idol the former world number one Feng Shanshan.
