Six Central Java regencies are not prepared for the election in terms of logistics with less than a few weeks remaining before polling stations open.
entral Java General Elections Commission (KPUD) head Yulianto Sudrajat has said six regencies in Central Java are not fully prepared for the election in terms of logistics with less than a few weeks remaining before polling stations open.
The regencies are Pati, Klaten, Sukoharjo, Grobongan, Sragen and Wonogiri.
“We have sent our team to Jakarta so that we can complete the necessary logistics, which will be finished within two days,” Yulianto said on Tuesday.
In addition to the 115,000 people recruited by the KPUD to assist voters during the election on April 17, Central Java Police chief Insp. Gen. Condro said nearly 22,000 police officers would help secure the area to deal with any conflicts among voters.
Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo previously urged the commission and the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) to inform the public about new election rules following a Constitutional Court ruling on the matter last month.
“Now, voters can correct their particulars within seven days before the election. People who do not own an electronic identity card can also vote by using a letter from their local population and civil registration agency,” Ganjar said. (mai)
