PC Sethi’s fiver helps Indorama CC upset Menara CC

It was a bowlers day at the GMIS JCA league with two five wicket hauls and a four wicket haul as Yadavas Chairos Tigers, Indorama CC and Jaguar CC prevailed in low scoring games.

Yadavas Chairos Tigers are on the cusp of creating JCA history by becoming the first Indonesian team to win the league after achieving an unassailable lead on top of Division 1. They did this with a comfortable win over the Metro Indians in a low scoring 35 over game.

The Tigers elected to bat first and were off to a poor start, losing their opener early to Sakthi Narayanan. The inform Anjar Tadarus then consolidated with help from Ahmad Ramdoni but some good bowling from Senthilvel prevented them getting big scores. Deepak Chand made a dream debut as his five wicket haul ensured that the Tigers were bowled out for a below par score of 166.

Fernandes Nato got rid of the dangerous Kirubasankar very early and then the prolific Gede Darma Arta ran through the top order to have the Metro Indians reeling at 13 for 5. Prabhukaliraj and Deepak Chand batted sensibly to build a recovery as Metro reached 74 for 5 in the 20th over and were back on track in the chase. The young Agung Gunawan, however, spoilt the Metro plan with 3 quick wickets to bowl them out for 101.

Jaguar CC created a minor upset by comfortably beating third placed Texmoda TKCC Royals in their T20 game at the GMIS grounds on Sunday. TKCC lost their openers cheaply after electing to bat first. Maneesh Tripathi and Gorav Pathak started to rebuild but just couldn’t force the pace against some tight bowling by Waqar Ali and Abhay Sharma. They had reached just 44 in the first 10 overs and acceleration was needed. Vishal Garg hit a few big shots, but TKCC could only manage 115 in their 20 overs despite having 7 wickets in hand.

Nitin Sharma, who opened for Jaguar CC, opted for attack as his weapon as he got his team off to a blazing start. TKCC had a small fight back with a few wickets, but Saulat Abbas hit four big sixes to take his team home with plenty of overs in hand.

Indorama CC used their knowledge of the home conditions to their advantage as they beat Menara CC in a low scoring game. Sajid Ali and Raja Zahid Hameed struck early to have Indorama struggling at 28 for 5 and things got even worse when Faheem Butt got in to the act as Indorama collapsed to 44 for 7. Just when Menara were planning on an early trip back home, Ajay Kumar and Vijay Nand stitched together a fabulous fighting partnership. Indorama were eventually bowled out for 114, which was a low score, but still gave their bowlers something to play with.

Skipper PC Sethi and Abhishek Sharma then wreaked havoc on the Menara batting with a splendid opening spell. Menara were staring at the abyss at 18 for 7 in an innings that saw 5 ducks. Faheem Butt tried to put on a valiant battle, but Ajay Kumar returned to close out the Menara innings for just 65, giving Indorama a 49 run win.
