The Health Ministry announced 1,681 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Sunday, bringing the total number of infections nationwide to 75,699.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, the ministry’s disease control and prevention director general, Achmad Yurianto, added that 71 more people had died of the disease, bringing the death toll to 3,606.

The total number of recovered patients has also increased to 35,638.

The capital city recorded 404 new confirmed cases, bringing the total tally to 14,517. Meanwhile, East Java reported 518 new cases, South Sulawesi 173, South Kalimantan 77, Central Java 70 and Papua 63.  

The virus has spread to all of the country's 34 provinces. (dfr/mfp)
