nited Arab Emirates (UAE) artificial intelligence (AI) company Group 42 (G42) is looking at investment opportunities in Indonesia in healthcare services and advanced technology, according to the Office of the Coordinating Investment and Maritime Affairs Minister.

In a visit to Indonesia from Sept. 13 to 15, representatives of G42 reportedly held discussions with private sector firms and state-owned enterprises (SOE) regarding investment opportunities in vaccines, drugs, plasma products and genomic research.

The company visited drug and vaccine manufacturer PT Etana Biotechnologies Indonesia in Pulogadung district of East Jakarta. The latter is known for its work in pharmaceutical manufacturing, research and marketing for drugs, recombinant vaccines and monoclonal antibodies.

“I hope G42’s visit to Indonesia, which was directly ordered by the UAE government, results in good exploration and the investment plan can be realized soon,” Coordinating Investment and Maritime Affairs Minister Luhut Pandjaitan was quoted in a press release as saying on Thursday.

The representatives of G42, a company only founded in 2018, also met with Aceh Governor Nova Irvansyah to discuss potential investment in healthcare services, AI and smart city infrastructure in the province.
