undreds of local people as well as tourists hailing from Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand could be found flocking to Penyengat Island, one of Tanjung Pinang’s tourist destinations, on Saturday.
They all came together to witness Penyengat Island Festival 2017 that was opened by Tanjung Pinang Mayor Lis Darmansyah.
Lis said the island was strongly related to the Malay culture as it was used as the central government of Riau monarchy in the year 1900.
