ntering the fourth day of deadly conflict between Palestinian militant group Hamas and Israel, the Indonesian government has cautioned its citizens against traveling to the region.
In the warning issued on Tuesday, Indonesia advised its citizens to cancel any trips to the Palestinian territories or Israel and called on the hundreds of citizens who were there before the conflict escalated to immediately leave the areas.
The government has drafted a plan considering various scenarios for the evacuation of Indonesian nationals trapped in the conflict, a press statement from the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday said. The country’s embassies in Amman, Beirut and Cairo, the statement noted, had been coordinating with a number of parties to evacuate the 10 Indonesians in the Gaza Strip.
The ministry’s director for citizen protection, Judha Nugraha, said the government was planning to evacuate the rest of the Indonesian citizens who were nearby, including 35 Indonesians residing in the West Bank and 230 tourists currently visiting Israel, but that the priority was the Gaza Strip, where the violence and bombardment was focused.
Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi, he said, had communicated with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) regarding the evacuation of Indonesians from the Gaza Strip. Retno also asked for assistance from the Philippine government, which has an embassy in Tel Aviv.

“For locations that still allow for relatively safe movement, like a few spots in Israel, we have asked Indonesians, including tourists, to immediately vacate the premises,” Judha added.
