‘Immersive Hong Kong’ exhibition offers round-trip ticket for up to 500 visitors

“Immersive Hong Kong”, a roving exhibition to display the multifaceted appeal of the world city, is now underway at Gandaria City, a major shopping center in South Jakarta.

The weeklong exhibition kicks off on July 23 and runs through July 29, open daily between 11a.m. and 9 p.m.

Launched by the Information Services Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, “Immersive Hong Kong” is more than just a means for visitors to obtain firsthand information about Hong Kong, delivered in a unique and fascinating way. It also offers a fun chance to win round-trip plane ticket from Jakarta to Hong Kong through the interactive game, “Snap a cool shot @Immersive Hong Kong”, only available at the exhibition.

Chief Information Officer of the Department’s Overseas Public Relations Sub-division, Stella Chui, said the exhibition was part of an all-out effort to promote the city’s potentials, advantages and opportunities, after it had returned to full normalcy and resumed full connectivity with mainland China and the world since the coronavirus pandemic. “With the lifting of all travel restrictions, Hong Kong is now seamlessly connected to the world again.”

Themed “Hong Kong – Where the World Looks Ahead”, the exhibition showcases the city’s unique strengths and attractions to draw business and leisure travelers from the ASEAN community to visit. Jakarta is the first stop of the roving exhibition.

“With these advantages and opportunities as well as our strategic location in Asia, Hong Kong could contribute to the regional economic development and   bring benefits to ASEAN economies, including Indonesia, through strengthening of mutual ties in various aspects,” Stella Chui explained.

The “Immersive Hong Kong” roving exhibition is part of an external promotional campaign aiming to showcase Hong Kong's new attractions, new developments and new opportunities to the audience in ASEAN countries.

“We expect more opportunities will be opened up through more frequent contacts. We hope that the exhibition will be able to give visitors a more comprehensive understanding of Hong Kong's advantages and edges, and to welcome friends from all over the world, including those from the ASEAN region, to visit Hong Kong and to see for themselves the vibrancy of the city,” she said.

Featuring all-round information about the vibrant city, the innovative and creative exhibition presents stunningly colorful visuals melding art and technology to offer an unforgettably immersive experience for visitors.

One highlight of “Immersive Hong Kong” is its use of art technology so visitors can virtually immerse themselves in different visuals of the city, with a creative twist.

Four thematic zones

The exhibition presents four thematic zones named “Financial Bridgehead”, “I&T Brain Bank”, “Blossoming Creativity” and “Diversity and Greenery”, featuring multiple interactive art projections and naked-eye 3D displays that showcase the multifaceted appeal of Hong Kong.

The journey starts with the I&T Brain Bank zone, an area to immerse in Hong Kong’s smart city vision!

See the Hong Kong Smart City Blueprint and Blueprint 2.0 in a vivid presentation of different perspectives by taking a virtual stroll through the city: Observe how Smart Hong Kong embraces innovation and technology to build a world-leading metropolis, characterized by a strong economy and high quality of living.

The I&T Brain Bank zone also features segments on “Smart Mobility” and “Smart Living”. Smart Mobility showcases cutting-edge transportation and traffic management systems to provide commuters with effective, fast and convenient means of travel. Smart Living meanwhile brings a new level of convenience to people’s daily lives.

Next will be the Financial Bridgehead zone - visitors can view Hong Kong’s vibrant skyline, depicted with glittering golden projections to represent the city as an international financial center.

The zone also displays the ceremonial gong used for special occasions, such as in launching initial public offerings, and which symbolizes the competitiveness of Hong Kong’s capital markets and investment ecosystem.

For visitors with a passion for business and finance, there are various financial and currency signs embodying the city’s international banking sector as well as advantageous characteristics, such as free movement of capital and Hong Kong’s state-of-the-art financial infrastructure, making it one of the best destinations for enterprises to develop their businesses.

In the Blossoming Creativity zone, visitors can experience different forms of Hong Kong’s creative culture including Cantonese opera, Chinese and Western concerts, the lion dance and ballet, all presented using new media and motion capture technologies. These naked-eye 3D models combine a variety of dynamic and colorful movements that encapsulate Hong Kong’s fascinating cultural blend of East and West.

For visitors curious about diversity and nature in Hong Kong, venture into the Diversity and Greenery zone. Presented in the unique style of gangcai, an exquisite technique in porcelain painting, colorful butterflies seem to take flight and dance among blooming Bauhinia blakeana, the city’s iconic floral emblem.

The Diversity and Greenery zone also offers a chance to explore the city’s lush environs around the Tai Lam Chung Reservoir and within the fascinating Mai Po Nature Reserve, as well as through a virtual migratory journey with Hong Kong’s waterbirds. This zone also offers a place to relax and enjoy the city’s beautiful mountain landscape and to experience the wonder of Hong Kong’s great outdoors, just a stone’s throw from its vibrant city center.

Visitors can also view the colorful Hong Kong skyline and the city’s iconic symbols as imagined by local artist Jane Lee, who goes by “Messy Desk”, on an LED display at the exhibition’s photo corner.

Still wondering what makes Hong Kong one of the most desirable places to visit, live, work and invest?

To help satiate visitors’ curiosity, the exhibition also has promotional videos, digital information panels and experience sharing sessions featuring ASEAN companies and talents that are based in Hong Kong.

Round-trip flight contest

The exhibition is also offering a contest for visitors to have a chance at winning a round-trip plane ticket from Jakarta to Hong Kong.

Up to 500 winners of the interactive game “Snap a cool shot @Immersive Hong Kong” will each receive a round-trip economy class ticket to fly from Jakarta to Hong Kong and back (terms and conditions apply), sponsored by Hong Kong International Airport’s “World of Winners” Ticket Giveaway Campaign.

Admission to the exhibition is free, and all souvenirs will be handed out at the venue.

The “Immersive Hong Kong” roving exhibition is a chance for businesspeople, entrepreneurs, professionals, opinion leaders, young talents as well as both leisure and business travelers from Indonesia and other ASEAN countries to explore the world city's potentials, diversity and opportunities.

“We hope the exhibition can arouse Indonesians’ interest in our city, attracting them to visit, to do business with or invest in Hong Kong. Through the exhibition, the visitors will know more about Hong Kong’s advantages, potentials and opportunities, experiencing its dynamism and attractiveness,” Stella Chui said.

The spectacular exhibition is an immersive platform for learning more about Hong Kong through engaging information and personal experiences, especially on why the city is a preferred destination for doing business.

“The multicultural working environment in Hong Kong enables us to go beyond [our] comfort zone and witness best practices from other professionals who have successfully expanded their businesses and gained experience in the global market,” said Diani NM, Southeast Asia business manager of FC Barcelona.

Sunarsih Krisfilia, director of Indonesia Business Advisory Limited, pointed out: “Many companies come to Hong Kong to set up their offices due to city’s low taxes, sound legal system, well-developed administration and high-ranking educational institutions.”
