ndonesia's soccer scene has evolved from being a sport to becoming the national pride. To empower Indonesia’s ever-growing soccer talent, AIA is supporting the Kompas U-14 League, a prominent grassroots soccer league in Indonesia, providing professional experience through an educational program to instil young players with the spirit of sportsmanship. Through AIA’s support, this program also aims to promote a healthy lifestyle.

On Jan. 27, AIA together with the Kompas League held the “Meet the Soccer Expert” event. This program featured Shannon Moloney, international development manager at Tottenham Hotspur, providing training for young soccer players on technical and nutritional aspects to maximize their potential.

"Recognizing the importance of maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle plays a crucial role in maintaining good health. We aim to help millions of people in Indonesia to live healthier, longer, better lives. An immensely popular sport, soccer is particularly dear to the hearts of Indonesians. The program is also a continuation of our Soccer for the Nation that we launched in 2018 and have provided coaching clinics for more than 1,200 young players in Indonesia. We hope with AIA support, this program can empower young Indonesian players who are sportsmanlike, respectful, professional and can benefit a healthy lifestyle, said Lia Merdekawaty, head of corporate communications and sustainability at AIA.

"I am impressed by the enthusiasm that the Indonesian community has for soccer. I see kids everywhere playing soccer, and I can feel that everyone here truly loves this sport. I am very grateful to be able to encourage this enthusiastic community to engage in healthy living. Soccer serves as more than just a match, but also to unite communities, making soccer an enthralling aspect of Indonesians life. This is also reflected in the spirit of Indonesian soccer players who continuously want to develop their abilities," said Shannon.

Beyond technical assistance, Shannon also provided education on the importance of nutrition management. Maintaining a nutritional balance is a duty to ensure optimal performance. Keeping a healthy, balanced and adequate lifestyle ensures nutritional balance for players, both during matches and off the field.
