F

ollowing the physical distancing policy issued by the government, citizens are encouraged to study, pray and even work at home to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Although it might be hard for most sociable urbanites not to meet others physically and to do everything at home, they have to get used to the new normal, at least for a while, or risk being infected by the virus. Like it or not, the widely imposed physical distancing has affected almost all business sectors. But all of us are of the view that maintaining a healthy life is our top priority.

Reports on the climbing number of cases and patients have, definitely, shown that the COVID-19 pandemic should be taken seriously, especially when it comes to health and life, as unexpected health-related issues can happen to anyone.

Under such unpredictable circumstances, many think life insurance is worth considering. Those who hold life insurance policies are indeed highly fortunate. They have financial protection to cover the medical cost in case they get sick or leave a sum of money to their beloved ones as their beneficiaries in case they pass away.

However, many others who have yet to get protection and are eager to have it might wonder how can they get protection when people are kept physically distant?

PT AIA Financial (AIA), a leading and most trusted life insurance company in Indonesia, has launched AIA DigiBuy, an innovative and non-face-to-face marketing service for traditional products or non-unit linked products through agency distribution channels and bancassurance.

AIA DigiBuy aims to provide customers with ease of getting insurance coverage without having to meet physically with marketing staff.

AIA president director Sainthan Satyamoorthy says, “Amidst the challenging time, all industries are affected. However, the life insurance industry plays a crucial role in providing life and health insurance that people highly need.”

With AIA DigiBuy, AIA can still provide protection to all Indonesian people amidst the physical distancing measures. We deliver this innovation in line with AIA’s commitment to helping millions of families in Indonesia live healthier, longer, better lives.

AIA’s newly launched innovation also aims to keep employees and marketing staff productive amidst the work-from-home policy adopted by the company as part of AIA’s endeavors to flatten the curve of COVID-19 transmission, as the government has instructed.

Under the AIA DigiBuy marketing system, the marketing staff, both through the agency channel and bancassurance, will communicate with customers by telephone or video call to market the AIA insurance products without having to meet face to face. Customers are only required to send a photo of themselves and their ID card and give their signature through an e-sign form to be submitted to the Interactive Point of Sales (iPOS) app, an AIA digital sales platform.

“AIA is a leading technology and digital innovation company. With AIA DigiBuy, our agents and bancassurance staff can still contact customers, understand their needs and provide protection solutions catered to the needs of customers and

their beloved families. We hope that the situation related to COVID-19 will return to normal and does not bring about more victims. We hope that the innovation that we deliver will make it easier for Indonesians to get optimal and affordable protection so as to raise their awareness about the importance of insurance,” adds Satyamoorthy.

On top of that, in a bid to ensure customer’s peace of mind in facing COVID-19, AIA earlier launched Proteksi Lebih or additional protection that AIA provides in the form of special cash worth Rp 1,500,000 per day during a patient’s care up to a maximum of 30 days if the customer tests positive for COVID-19.

For customers purchasing a new policy in the period of March 16 to May 31, 2020, AIA will provide additional 50 percent of insurance payment up to 150 percent if the customer passes away of COVID-19.

All of the additional protection benefits will complete the existing policy and are valid at a time when the customers are tested positive for COVID-19 within the period of March 16 - May 31, 2020, with life protection period up to Dec. 31, 2020.

AIA also held AIA AksiProteksi (AIA Protection Action) aimed at educating the public about the importance of keeping themselves clean as a preventive measure and protection against COVID-19 by distributing thousands of sanitizer products to the public in collaboration with ANTIS.
