o celebrate International Women’s Day, more than 1,000 women participated in the AIA Vitality Women’s 10K on Sunday, March 3, 2024, which took them on a journey through the beauty of Surakarta, Central Java.
Themed #RiseupYourPlayground, the race invited Indonesian women to engage actively in living healthier lives by running.
"I am very delighted to run along with 1,000 other women at this year's AIA Vitality Women's 10K,” said Kathryn Parapak, chief marketing officer of AIA.
“In line with AIA's commitment to helping millions of families in Indonesia live healthier, longer, better lives, through this activity we encourage Indonesian women to lead an active lifestyle. We hope this event can provide a safe environment for women to exercise," she said.
Women of diverse backgrounds and experience, from beginners to seasoned runners, took part in the Women’s 10K in Surakarta, also known as Solo. Among them was actress and singer Andien Aisyah, who joined the race to enliven and motivate her fellow runners.
"To me, sports go beyond simply staying healthy, they're a means of self-expression. As women, it's essential that we actively pursue a healthy lifestyle to remain in peak condition and inspire other women along the way," she said.
In addition to providing a space for women to exercise in safety and comfort, the AIA Vitality Women’s 10K offered the special experience of exploring the beauty of Solo’s nature and royal culture. The culturally rich city was chosen as the new “playground” of the AIA Vitality Women’s 10K to inspire and encourage women in Solo and surrounding areas to lead an active lifestyle by running.
