The integration has given birth to Shop Tokopedia, which includes a privacy setting option allowing users to deactivate the personalization feature that matches their social media habits with shopping recommendations.
he integration of major e-commerce platforms TikTok Shop and Tokopedia has been completed, giving birth to Shop Tokopedia as a new brand.
The integration, which follows the acquisition of PT Tokopedia by ByteDance-owned TikTok last December, was concluded on March 27, Tokopedia president Melissa Siska Juminto revealed on Wednesday, as reported by Antara.
"We have completed all compliance requirements as requested by the Trade Ministry, based on Trade Ministry Regulation No. 31/2023," she added.
Melissa explained that payments for all Shop Tokopedia transactions were recorded and processed by Tokopedia, including fund and invoice processing. That includes transactions initiated through the TikTok app.
Shop Tokopedia includes a privacy option in the settings that allows users to deactivate the personalization feature that matches their social media habits with shopping recommendations.
That way, the shopping platform will not recommend products based on a user’s social media activity.
"We have also separated user IDs on TikTok for social media and shopping accounts. Thus, we can impose some limitations on them in our system," added Melissa.
