Virtual products will remain available to buyers, such as electricity bills, taxes and digital gold vouchers, while physical products like home accessories, fashion and electronics are only available until Feb. 9.
E-commerce platform Bukalapak has announced that it will cease the sale of physical products in February this year.
Bukalapak spokesperson Dimas Bayu said that the company was seeking to strengthen its position in the virtual product ecosystem and to provide the best services in the digital industry.
“We would like to inform you that Bukalapak will transform to increase [our] focus on virtual products. As part of these strategic steps, we will cease the operation of physical product sales on the Bukalapak marketplace,” the company wrote on its official blog on Tuesday.
“Moving forward, we are only focusing on virtual products and services,” he said on Tuesday, as quoted by Tempo.
He added that another focus was on the growth of the company and its subsidiaries, as well as to “benefit stakeholders, especially shareholders”.
Bukalapak has reiterated its commitment to assisting sellers on its platform during the transition period.
“We fully understand that this change will impact sellers and we are committed to streamlining the transition process,” Bukalapak wrote.
