obile game Triumph Over Pain (TOP) is slated for release in Indonesia on Jan. 17, offering attractive features like player versus player (PVP), party raid and combo.

Initiated by South Korean developer Supreme Games and publisher True Digital Plus, it is said to come with portrait or landscape view mode and a true action role-playing game (RPG) concept, which means users will get to create and use their own tactics and strategies.

"Many action RPG games are too repetitive and automatically played. We want one where analysis, creation and tactic and strategy usage become the main elements to success," said True Digital Plus Indonesia country director Sofian Martineau in a press release.

TOP players can also expect to participate in eSport tournaments related to the game.

Aside from targeting gamers, the developer and publisher are hopeful that TOP could help attract local developers to create world-class games. According to the Communications and Information Ministry's informatics application director general Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, Indonesia was actually the country with the biggest game industry growth among other Southeast Asian countries, despite local players only managing to grab 10 percent of last year's total game industry revenue, which amounted to US$321 million.

"This percentage could fall to only 3 percent by 2019 if the government does not cooperate with all parts of the local game industry ecosystem," said Semuel, adding that a target had been set for local players to control at least 50 percent of total market share by 2020. (mra/kes)
